CARTER'S LAKE

Updated: Apr 26

Situated in the southern Appalachian foothills of North Georgia, Carter's Lake WMA is jointly managed by the Department of Natural Resources and the Army Corps of Engineers.

Fishing, hiking, biking, hunting

This 3,300-acre Wildlife Management Area encompasses the land surrounding Carter's Lake, which is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Collectively, this area offers over 6,000 acres of hunting and fishing opportunities, along with a wide range of outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and camping. The hunting component of the property is overseen by the DNR's Wildlife Resources Division, while all other aspects are under the management of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Please note that ATVs are not permitted on the property, except for wheelchair-bound hunters during the wheelchair deer hunt
